Dear Michael A. Martin,
I don’t believe you know what you’re writing about when it comes to Star Trek Enterprise and your newest novel, as in Star Trek Enterprise The Romulan War Beneath The Raptor’s Wing. This is because of many different reasons, reasons that your editor Margret Clark is too stupid to realize and everyone at Pocket Books. I’ve been studying a researching Star Trek and specially Enterprise for my own novels that Margret herself shot down because they don’t support her ideas and agenda therefore it is a great thing that Pocket Books has let her go as the editor of Star Trek books as of August 2009. Now maybe you need to learn exactly when the shows episodes aired and what years they really took place in. I say this about the episode “These Are The Voyages” for that episode was set in 2161 (The year the United Federation of Planets was chartered.) This is the same year that Commander Charles “Trip” Tucker III died. You and Andy Mangles have that death happening in 2155 and thus call it a hoax; this is an illogical fault and is something totally wrong to write about or to even put into your books. Next the fact that you have Ensign Hoshi Sato and Ensign Travis Mayweather wanting to transfer off of Enterprise in 2155 because of the Kobayashi Maru incident.
Now you say in your acknowledgements section for all of your books that you’ve used Memory Alpha and Memory Beta for your sources well I have used those sites too and I know that what you have looked up is wrong especially when I can’t even find it there. Those sites though are a Wikipedia type site which means any ordinary person can edit those sites and put in wrong information just because they want too and then it’s a lie to the whole Star Trek community like your books are turning out to be. This type of lying that you and Andy Mangles are doing needs to stop right now. Its time you come clean and stop lying to the Star Trek community and to stop listening to your one track mind editors who know nothing except going by what they want to happen. A true author writes what they know to be correct and what follows canon and that means that Trip and T’Pol’s relationship is over, they mutually ended it right after the episode “Terra Prime”. T’Pol never loved Trip, she just was exploring Human Sexuality with him and even right on screen admitted that is was just an experiment and that she knew all along that he was the wrong choice to even use to do that because he would think there was something more to it than what it really was to her, just an experiment into sex.
Now as an up and coming Star Trek author I have done all the research into Starfleet, the United Federation of Planets and all the television series. I have even asked many people about their opinions about different things that happened onscreen and or were hinted on then changed in mid-run. These include the Trip/T’Pol Relationship and I’ve found out that people actually morally support an Archer/T’Pol Relationship over the one that was onscreen. On the contrary, many believe that since T’Pol ended the relationship with Trip in 2155 that that has opened up the door for a future relationship between her and Captain Jonathan Archer. Because of people feeling this way, I have put that relationship into my book along with a few other story shaping ideas that Margret Clark shot down because she didn’t like them but I happen to know that it’s what the fans want. So now all I have to say is that YOUR BOOK (BOOKS) FOR STAR TREK ENTERPRISE IN THE RELAUNCH SERIES ARE ALL WRONG AND SHOULD BE TRASHED BECAUSE YOU AND ANDY DON’T EVEN DO YOUR RESEARCH RIGHT, at the same time though, mine books ARE 100% BETTER WITH CORRECT INFORMATION AND RESEARCH AND SHOULD BE PUBLISHED OVER YOURS.
Thank you, James

I realize that Wounds was released in October 2008, but you are going to have to wait a little longer. Because of the lay-offs of Marco Palmieri and Margaret Clark, the release dates for the next 2 SCE omnibus editions have been pushed back. Originally Out Of The Cocoon (#'s57-60)was set for release in December 2009, then it was pushed back to December 2010, and now, according to Memory Beta, it's been pushed back till sometime in 2011.

Memory Beta also lists What's Past (#'s 61-66, last books of the SCE line before the switch over to the Corps of Engineers line) but with a "Not Yet Scheduled" note next to it. But, if I had to guess, we probably won't see that book till, at the earliest Christmas 2011, but most likely not till later in 2012 or beyond.

I was wondering what happened to the big Paperback scheduled for this year with another batch of SCE ebooks compiled within. First it was going to be summer, then fall, now not at all. I've got money, lets go already! I don't want to read this on a screen, I want it in my hands in paper form. But mostly I'd like to know when its going to be published and if not, why not? There's not enough in book stores as it is. Got to publish or you will perish.

wow! This sounds exactly like The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams.

Let me give you a brief reminder:

"Thireen-year-old Kyra has grown up in an isolated community without questioning the fact that her father has three wives and she has twenty brothers and sisteres, with two more on the way. That is, without questioning them much-If you don't count her secret visists to the Ironton County Mobile Library on Wheels to read forbidden books, or her meetings with Joshua, the boy she hopes to choose for herself instead of having a man chosen for her

But when the Prophet decrees that she must marry her sixty-year-old uncle- who already has six wives-Kyra must make a desperate choice in the face of violence and her own fears of losing her family forever."

Let me point out that in this book, Keep Sweet, the girl is being forced to marry an old man (the same problem Kyra has in The Chosen One), she's beaten for liking a boy (which happens in The Chosen One, after she is caught with Joshoua) and she's trying to escape, which is the main plot line for The Chosen One. The blurb says she's content with her life--like in TCO--until something makes her question her surroundings. There is the risk of danger in this book, like in TCO. There's a walled-in community. The similarities seem endless. And this is only from reading the blurb on the cover of KS.

Again, wow.

Dear Mr. Bobrick,

Excuse me for using the forum in this manner. I don't know how else to contact you.

I am the author of the website "Army of the Cumberland and George Thomas Source" (www.aotc.net). In your bibliography of "Master of War" you list one of my articles (GT - Pracitioner of Emancipation) from the website, for which I am grateful. I sometimes wonder if I'm getting through to anyone.

However, in the text you missed two chances to cite the article. On pg. 274 you write: "He was, in fact, the only Union general to do so [give colored troops a featured role] in a major battle of the war. Here you could have put a footnote. That is almost a quote from my article, and I never found that insight in any of the books about Thomas or his battles I ever read. But then, maybe you did read it somewhere, or figured it out yourself.

Then, on pg. 275, you write, noting Frederick Douglass' famous quote about Lincoln: "The same, as one writer noted, might be said of Thomas in military sphere." That is right out of my article. As I am that one writer, I feel that the reference deserved a footnote.

If you go to Amazon and read my 5 star review (with no damning faint praise) of your book, you will see that I make about the only substantive and, at the same time, constructive criticism thereof. Others carp about breech-loading rifles in the hands of the Confederates at Mill Springs (there may have been a Maynard or two there), or the relative ranks of Smith and Grant at Shiloh, but I offer two essential elements of the narrative which you will certainly include in your next edition. Sherman's maps of Chattanooga were not wrong, and we can't explain the success of Thomas' charge up the ridge without considering Hooker's decisive role in softening up Bragg's left.

I will delete this post (if I can) once I am sure you have read it. Thank you for your attention.

This is a must read! She's an excellent writer and the stories she tells are vivid and I was just so impressed with the book.

I plan on going out and buying some of her fiction novels as well. God Bless her. She's been through so much. Amazing how she's still holding it all together.

i have a sony reader myself, but still make it a point to go and buy actual books to help keep the bookstores in business. i may only be 27, but i remember the days before ebooks and to read posts about how "Mr. King and his publisher can say goodbye to any more money from me." truly troubles me. ebooks are great but to stop buying material because you have to wait a little bit longer for a digital version is just petty and sad. and yes, i did just buy the hardcover from a local brick and mortar bookstore. sucka.

I wrote many books studying homicide, but retired six years ago and am quite out of touch. Lepore's essay in the New Yorker reviewing recent studies of homicide is thoughtful and intelligent. I did not know that Monkonnen had died, but am pleased to learn that his work has been picked up by a colleague. Anyway, Dr Lepore, excellent and thank you. Elliott Leyton, Emeritus Professor of Forensic anthropology, Memorial University of Newfoundland

As a disabled person, reading this book in hardcover form is impossible. I'm insulted by both the publisher and Mr. King in their decision to delay the ebook version of this novel. Mr. King and the publisher can say goodbye to any more money from me.

I am more than a little miffed about the delayed release of the "under the Dome" e-book! My husband collects Stephen King hardcovers and purchased his hard cover book early this morning while I have to sit and wait till December 24th to read my e-version. I REFUSE to read those darn heavy hardcovers!!! Let alone 1,000 pages worth of trying to balance in bed. I am very disappointed in Stephen Kings decision to "Save the Bookstores and Screw the E-Readers" what are WE chopped liver?
