"Beneath The Raptor's Wing" (by Michael A. Martin, due in Nov)

.

Does the fact that this book has a subtitle mean that there will be more "Romulan War" novels winging their way to us in the future?

.

I hope so. I wouldn't like to think they would try to cover the whole war in one book, even if it is almost 500 pages long.

I was wondering what happened to the big Paperback scheduled for this year with another batch of SCE ebooks compiled within. First it was going to be summer, then fall, now not at all. I've got money, lets go already! I don't want to read this on a screen, I want it in my hands in paper form. But mostly I'd like to know when its going to be published and if not, why not? There's not enough in book stores as it is. Got to publish or you will perish.

wow! This sounds exactly like The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams.

Let me give you a brief reminder:

"Thireen-year-old Kyra has grown up in an isolated community without questioning the fact that her father has three wives and she has twenty brothers and sisteres, with two more on the way. That is, without questioning them much-If you don't count her secret visists to the Ironton County Mobile Library on Wheels to read forbidden books, or her meetings with Joshua, the boy she hopes to choose for herself instead of having a man chosen for her

But when the Prophet decrees that she must marry her sixty-year-old uncle- who already has six wives-Kyra must make a desperate choice in the face of violence and her own fears of losing her family forever."

Let me point out that in this book, Keep Sweet, the girl is being forced to marry an old man (the same problem Kyra has in The Chosen One), she's beaten for liking a boy (which happens in The Chosen One, after she is caught with Joshoua) and she's trying to escape, which is the main plot line for The Chosen One. The blurb says she's content with her life--like in TCO--until something makes her question her surroundings. There is the risk of danger in this book, like in TCO. There's a walled-in community. The similarities seem endless. And this is only from reading the blurb on the cover of KS.

Again, wow.

Meg Cabot is one of the most hilarious, talented and unique writers out there. Every book I have ever bought or read that she has written have immediatley gone into my favorites. There is not one book where I have been disappointment. She delivers fun, romance, action, suspense, and an urge to keep reading and she puts it all on a whole new level for me. Alongside Stephenie Meyer, she is my absolute FAVORITE writer. In fact, seeing a combination of her and Meyer would be the best book in the world for me. My two favorite writers in one book. Hours of entertainment and more. Read her books, you wont be disappointed!!

Dear Mr. Bobrick,

Excuse me for using the forum in this manner. I don't know how else to contact you.

I am the author of the website "Army of the Cumberland and George Thomas Source" (www.aotc.net). In your bibliography of "Master of War" you list one of my articles (GT - Pracitioner of Emancipation) from the website, for which I am grateful. I sometimes wonder if I'm getting through to anyone.

However, in the text you missed two chances to cite the article. On pg. 274 you write: "He was, in fact, the only Union general to do so [give colored troops a featured role] in a major battle of the war. Here you could have put a footnote. That is almost a quote from my article, and I never found that insight in any of the books about Thomas or his battles I ever read. But then, maybe you did read it somewhere, or figured it out yourself.

Then, on pg. 275, you write, noting Frederick Douglass' famous quote about Lincoln: "The same, as one writer noted, might be said of Thomas in military sphere." That is right out of my article. As I am that one writer, I feel that the reference deserved a footnote.

If you go to Amazon and read my 5 star review (with no damning faint praise) of your book, you will see that I make about the only substantive and, at the same time, constructive criticism thereof. Others carp about breech-loading rifles in the hands of the Confederates at Mill Springs (there may have been a Maynard or two there), or the relative ranks of Smith and Grant at Shiloh, but I offer two essential elements of the narrative which you will certainly include in your next edition. Sherman's maps of Chattanooga were not wrong, and we can't explain the success of Thomas' charge up the ridge without considering Hooker's decisive role in softening up Bragg's left.

I will delete this post (if I can) once I am sure you have read it. Thank you for your attention.

I just finished reading Jeff Guinn's book, and it is excellent. I don't know what the criteria are for Pulitzer Prizes in non-fiction, but I would certainly nominate this book for one. Guinn has done an excellent job researching and writing this book. He has documented practically every sentence and has carefully peeled away the myth of Bonnie & Clyde and provided an objective account of the outlaws' lives and times, showing us the real people for who and what they were. I only have one question: How can I get Jeff to autograph my book?
